The formula

Sodatide Ingredients and Doses in Each Capsule

Quick answer

Each Sodatide capsule holds chicory root inulin, potato resistant starch and a probiotic blend of three bacteria.

The amounts are 211 mg, 100 mg and 36 mg. The blend has Bifidobacterium infantis, Clostridium butyricum and Akkermansia muciniphila, but no CFU count.

Every line is on the label page.

Five ingredients

What are the five ingredients in Sodatide?

Two fibers with printed amounts, then three bacteria that share one 36 mg blend. Tap a card to flip it.

Sodatide pairs two prebiotic fibers with three probiotic bacteria. The fibers feed gut bacteria.

Dose check

How much of each Sodatide ingredient is in one capsule?

One capsule holds 347 mg of active ingredients, about a third of a gram. Fibers make up 311 mg.

The Sodatide proprietary blend (36 mg per serving) in label order, next to the amounts used in research. "At most" figures are label math: blend ingredients are listed from most to least by weight, so ingredient number k can weigh no more than 36 mg divided by k.

The "at most" figures are ceilings. FDA rules list blend parts from most to least by weight (FDA labeling guide ch. IV). Real amounts could be much lower.

The gram gap

Why are Sodatide's fiber amounts so far below the studies?

Studies used grams a day; Sodatide prints milligrams. A gram is 1,000 milligrams.

EFSA, the European food safety agency, accepted a regularity effect for chicory inulin only at 12 grams a day (EFSA 2015 chicory inulin claim). Sodatide's 211 mg is about 2% of that.

Resistant starch trials ran from about 6 to 66 grams a day (Pugh 2023 RS glycemic meta-analysis) (Snelson 2019 RS2 meta-analysis). Sodatide's 100 mg is at most one sixtieth of the lowest of those doses.

Fiber powders like these are measured by the spoonful in studies. A whole Sodatide capsule holds about a third of a gram.

Probiotics

Why are probiotics dosed in CFU, not milligrams?

Probiotics are counted in colony-forming units (CFU), a measure of live cells. Many products give 1 to 10 billion CFU a dose, says the NIH Office of Dietary Supplements (NIH ODS Probiotics (HP)).

A weight in milligrams counts living and dead cells together. The NIH advises looking for a CFU count that holds until the end of shelf life (NIH ODS Probiotics (HP)).

No comparison is possible

Sodatide prints 36 mg for three bacteria and no CFU count. Studies report cells. So no study can be matched.

The label also names species only, with no strain codes. Our Supplement Facts guide covers what else it leaves out.

The blend

What do the three bacteria in Sodatide's blend do in research?

At most 36 mg

Bifidobacterium infantis

One strain, 35624, eased IBS symptoms in women at 100 million CFU a day (Whorwell 2006 B. infantis 35624 IBS).

At most 18 mg

Clostridium butyricum

One strain, MIYAIRI 588, has been sold in Japan since the 1960s (Miyarisan CBM 588 novel food dossier). Safety depends on the strain, and EFSA does not presume the whole species safe (ACNFP C. butyricum TO-A paper). Ask the brand which strain it uses.

At most 12 mg

Akkermansia muciniphila

One 2019 pilot gave 10 billion cells a day to 32 people who finished. The pasteurized form improved insulin sensitivity; weight change was not significant (Depommier 2019 Nat Med Akkermansia pilot).

Real fiber

Where can you get gram doses of fiber every day?

From food. Adults need about 21 to 38 grams of fiber a day, depending on age and sex (MedlinePlus dietary fiber) (Mayo Clinic fiber). One Sodatide capsule adds about 0.3 grams.

  • Beans, lentils, oats and other whole grains
  • Vegetables and whole fruit at most meals
  • Cooked and cooled potatoes, a food source of resistant starch

Mayo Clinic says whole foods are generally better than fiber supplements (Mayo Clinic fiber). Add fiber over a few weeks and drink water (MedlinePlus dietary fiber).

Safety

Who should ask a doctor before taking Sodatide's ingredients?

The label names pregnant or nursing mothers, anyone under 18 and anyone with a known medical condition.

Probiotics and weak immunity

Rare but serious infections from probiotics have mostly occurred in people who are very ill or immunocompromised (NIH ODS Probiotics (HP)). Ask your doctor first.

Inulin is a type of fructan, a FODMAP that can trigger IBS symptoms (Monash FODMAP high/low foods). The side effects guide covers what to expect. See a doctor for unplanned weight loss, ongoing belly pain or blood in the stool.

FAQ

Sodatide ingredients FAQ

What is in Sodatide, ingredient by ingredient?

Each Sodatide capsule contains chicory root inulin 211 mg, potato resistant starch 100 mg and a 36 mg probiotic blend of Bifidobacterium infantis, Clostridium butyricum and Akkermansia muciniphila. Other ingredients are hypromellose (the vegetarian capsule), microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate and silica.

Is 211 mg of inulin in Sodatide enough to do anything?

Probably not on its own, because studies used grams. EFSA accepted a regularity effect only at 12 grams a day (EFSA 2015 chicory inulin claim), which is about 57 Sodatide capsules. One capsule gives about 2% of the EFSA amount.

How many CFU are in Sodatide's probiotic blend?

The label does not say. It prints only a 36 mg weight for three bacteria, with no CFU count. Probiotics are dosed in live cells, often 1 to 10 billion CFU (NIH ODS Probiotics (HP)), so without a count there is no way to compare Sodatide with any study.

How much Akkermansia is in each Sodatide capsule?

At most 12 mg, and possibly much less. Akkermansia is listed third in a 36 mg blend, and label order runs from most to least by weight (FDA labeling guide ch. IV). The label gives no cell count and does not say whether the Akkermansia is live or pasteurized.

Does Sodatide contain any drug or GLP-1 medicine?

No. Sodatide contains two fibers and three bacteria, and no drug. The name sounds like semaglutide or tirzepatide, but it is not a GLP-1 medicine and is not an alternative to one (NIDDK prescription obesity medicines).

Is Sodatide vegetarian?

Yes, the capsule shell is hypromellose, a plant-based material. Its other ingredients are microcrystalline cellulose, magnesium stearate and silica. The label prints no allergen statement, so ask the brand about any specific allergy before you order.
